On 11 January 2025, the exhibition 'Disobedient Bodies: Reclaiming Her' opened at the Sundaram Tagore Gallery in Singapore. Curated by Italian independent curator Loredana Pazzini-Paracciani, the exhibition addresses the theme of gender equality and women's voices in contemporary societies.
Coinciding with Art SG 2025, the exhibition presents recent works by eight prominent female artists from South-East Asia: Nadiah Bamadhaj (Malaysia), Peihang Benoît (Taiwan), Lê Hiền Minh (Vietnam), Maria Madeira (East Timor), Charmaine Poh (Singapore), Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook (Thailand), Soe Yu Nwe (Myanmar) and Pannaphan Yodmanee (Thailand).
Thanks to the support of the Italian Embassy in Singapore, Disobedient Bodies offers a stimulating dialogue on the themes of gender, identity and autonomy through works that challenge patriarchal narratives. The exhibition promotes reflections on women's empowerment and diversity, offering alternative viewpoints to dominant narratives and centred on South East Asian cultures.
