"The Polish presidency of the EU semester, starting in January, I believe will be very effective, dynamic. Poland expects a lot and will have two priorities, enlargement and security', which is also linked to 'overcoming the war in Ukraine'. Italian Ambassador to Warsaw Luca Franchetti Pardo told ANSA on the sidelines of the Ambassadors' Conference. "The issue of security will be central in many pillars, security in the classical sense and economic, food, citizens' security," and then there will be the enlargement dossier that "also interests Italy a lot," he added.
As for bilateral relations with Italy, the ambassador stressed that the political ones are "excellent" because "they are based on a historical bond of friendship between the two peoples". From the economic point of view, then, "the interchange this year will exceed 36 billion, it is a little-known figure but it shows that Poland is one of the most important trade partners we have in Europe". And then there is culture, Italian culture "is very much loved in Poland, which is among the first countries in terms of texts translated from Italian and which hosts 40 chairs of Italian studies," the diplomat added.
