Italy's workforce is ageing faster and
faster, according to Istat data released on Saturday.
The national statistics agency said close to 10 million over-50s
(9,992,000) were in work in January 2025, an increase of over
five million in the same month in 2005.
It said the number of under-35s in employment fell from 7.47
million to 5.44 million over the same period.
Istat added that the number of people in work in Italy rose by
1.86 million between January 2005 and January 2025.
